BLOGS THAT CAPTIVATE MY INTEREST AND LOYALTY

Google Reader

I follow several blogs, most of which I keep track of through Google Reader and catch up on when I have time.

I WILL TEACH YOU TO BE RICH
Ramit Sethi’s blog takes a unique approach to personal finance. Unlike many blogs that focus on saving small amounts or finding extra income, Ramit dives into the psychology of money. He explains why we act the way we do with our finances and shares techniques to achieve our financial goals. He discusses everything from persuasive tactics in job interviews to smart automation for daily tasks. I’ve been reading his blog for around five years, and it’s impressive how he has continuously aimed higher even after his book became a New York Times Bestseller.

GET RICH SLOWLY
I’ve been following this blog for years. It started with J.D. Roth sharing his journey out of debt and his path to self-improvement. He’s a fantastic storyteller, and his philosophy of taking small steps to achieve financial goals resonates with me. As the blog has expanded with more writers, I tend to focus on a few.

FABULOUSLY BROKE… IN THE CITY
This blog, originally by a Canadian living in the US, covers not only money but also minimalism, food, fashion, and more. The writing feels like a casual chat with a friend. Although the original author sold the blog, I still enjoy reading it as it now includes contributions from other bloggers. I used to follow blogs like meinmillions and My Open Wallet, but they no longer post. I’m still on the lookout for a smart, funny, independent woman in her 20s or 30s blogging regularly.

BUDGETS ARE SEXY
J. Money’s blog is incredibly entertaining. He writes about various topics, from new parenthood to converting his basement into a full-time blogging office. His style is both humorous and engaging.

20SOMETHING FINANCE AND MONEY UNDER 30
These blogs are geared towards people in my age group and often feature useful information. While some topics like 401(k) and Roth IRA aren’t relevant to me since I don’t live or work in the US, they provide great insights into major financial decisions when starting out in life, such as negotiating salaries and buying your first home.

THE BOXCAR KIDS
This blog is authored by a single mother of four who faced tough times in California after losing her job during the Great Recession. She writes about her experiences living in a trailer park and efforts to maintain a positive outlook while educating and entertaining her kids. Now, they are moving to the rural Midwest to pursue self-sufficiency, which promises to be an interesting journey.

LIFE QUOTES 4 YOU BLOG
Jon Emge’s emerging blog is well-written and to the point. It covers a range of personal finance topics, including auto insurance, budgeting, business insurance, mortgages, and travel insurance. Jon, originally from America and now living in Liverpool due to his love for the Beatles, is an excellent writer whose posts I highly recommend.
