It’s been a while since my last blog! During this quarantine, I’ve decided to get back into the habit of journaling and blogging. It’s a great way to entertain both you and myself. You might feel like you’ve missed out on a lot, but I’ll try to keep you updated as we go along. In the meantime, stay safe and remember to wash your hands.
Today is day 35. Living by the beach has really made things better lately. I have a short temper and a low tolerance for nonsense these days, but I would have lost my mind if we were living in a high-rise apartment.
We depend on the city of Coronado, which closed its beaches later than San Diego. There’s a special dog beach that our pets love, and the main beach near the iconic Hotel Del Coronado is perfect for people-watching and evening walks. It’s a couple of miles away, so my husband and I usually head there in the afternoon to watch the sunset.
When the city closed the beaches, the sidewalk by the beach still offered stunning ocean views. Coronado Island stretches between the ocean and San Diego Bay, and that’s where we live. The campground has its own private beach on the Bay, complete with a small marina where some people live on their boats.
It seems like between the marina residents and the RV folks, we have an unusually high number of dogs. There’s also a small base housing community and a school (which is closed) that share the beach with us. On a random Sunday, you won’t find more than a handful of people on the beach. It’s not ideal for swimming as the Bay water isn’t very appealing, but the sand is nice and the dogs love it.
Unfortunately, we can’t use the ocean beach right in front of our campground because it’s where the Navy SEALs train. While the whole virus situation has been driving me a bit crazy, being near the beach has been incredibly helpful for my sanity. Plus, it’s a good way to get some exercise since I’ve been eating way too much.
